Thursday 12th June

Visit to The Ancient House Museum

The Society held a highly successful visit to the museum for a private view of the Thetford Treasure, back in Thetford for the first time in three decades and on temporary loan from the British Museum.

The treasure can be seen at the museum until 13 December 2008

Friday 18th July

Castle Acre 3 Churches Tour

An evening tour by local historian Anne Mason of three churches in the Nar Valley: Newton-by-Acre, South Acre and Castle Acre. These churches are architecturally very different, spanning the period from the 11th to the 15th centuries, and each has stunning features and a special atmosphere. The tour is free, but please book places in advance via Sue Whittley on 01366 328190. Meet at 6pm on the grass area (parking here) outside Newton-by-Acre Church, on the A1065 north of Swaffham, just opposite the George and Dragon pub.

Thursday 28 August Visit to Merton Hall

Evening visit to Merton Hall, home of the de Grey family since the 14th century.

Further information will be available in early July, but places can be booked meanwhile through Sue Whittley (see below).
