WALK AROUND SCOULTON MERE – Sunday 22nd May
You may remember an article entitled ‘The Secrets of Scoulton Mere’ in a recent issue of the Breckland Society Newsletter. On the afternoon of Sunday May 22nd 2022 by permission of the Woodrising Estate there will be a rare opportunity to join an escorted walk around the Mere. The event is planned to raise money for Scoulton Church and Village Hall and is the only time in the year that the public are allowed into the woodland around the Mere. It will not be a large gathering, and participants must register in advance with Julia Grover 01953 483654 or email juliagrover464@gmail.com.
Tickets are £10, payable on the day, to include afternoon tea in the Hall after the walk. No dogs please as there will be ground-nesting birds. We will meet at 2pm at Scoulton Village Hall, NR9 4NR and make the short walk down to the Mere gate.
The ground is uneven, so come with stout, waterproof shoes and be prepared to step over minor obstacles such as small branches and brambles. The distance around the Mere is about a mile.
